I opened the world at the edge of a London plane
the meeting place of air, fire and a robin’s song
It stretched its throat into a branch
calling for me to join
in holding the falling sea
Gasping for air,
I bloomed in a red, blue fire
and grew—into a palmate leaf–
and flew, catching the wide blue breath
Freed I drew winds
in waves of sea—
Like Hokusai
until I ran
Out of words—
falling
Parched and brown
I crashed
inside a death too green
to hold
the sea
With only eyes for leaves
I drank tears
and held the sea
the meeting place of air, fire and a robin’s song
It stretched its throat into a branch
calling for me to join
in holding the falling sea
Gasping for air,
I bloomed in a red, blue fire
and grew—into a palmate leaf–
and flew, catching the wide blue breath
Freed I drew winds
in waves of sea—
Like Hokusai
until I ran
Out of words—
falling
Parched and brown
I crashed
inside a death too green
to hold
the sea
With only eyes for leaves
I drank tears
and held the sea
