The warm breath of wind lifts my skin
drenching my shirt in wet salts
the shape-shifting sea
shift shapes we see
stretching my eyes into lines
that jump up
and down
slipping through
the nets of my eyelashes.
The ferry shouts
its deep metallic mumbling
rattling my jawline and ringing my cogs–
I melt with its metal body for an instant
bathing in the threaded blue and white flag of the Grecian Sea
Immersed on the edge
of a tear
I float until
I hear the sea’s songs
and break into foam on the rising note
drenching my shirt in wet salts
the shape-shifting sea
shift shapes we see
stretching my eyes into lines
that jump up
and down
slipping through
the nets of my eyelashes.
The ferry shouts
its deep metallic mumbling
rattling my jawline and ringing my cogs–
I melt with its metal body for an instant
bathing in the threaded blue and white flag of the Grecian Sea
Immersed on the edge
of a tear
I float until
I hear the sea’s songs
and break into foam on the rising note
