We are the sea
I saw the strangest thing—
a wave crashing in the middle of Cheapside.
It foamed in glassy shards
They walked the pavements trapped
inside gemstone bodies.
I heard the pull of the sea
in their reflections.
They cracked as the day
grew older and scrambled
to give street’s corners
their name
They melted in the sea
as new shards rose
for their breath.
I caught one
framed in my mirror,
its brown eyes—I tell you—
shards
In them the sea—
Opened

London has Names
I wanted to find the names of this anonymous city. In cafés, a Dr Marten’s shop, a bookshop, my neighbour and more. People that inspired me to write about and around them.

About Me
My name is Hakim. I write poetry weaving physics, people, the existential question and the odd pun.
I’ve lived in Deptford, London for the last sixteen years and was born in Grenoble. I’m a fan of Mahmoud Darwish, and to a lesser extent Desnos and Valéry.
I’m exploring how AI—tools of mass automation—can be used creatively to generate music from poetry. I’m also a keen runner, since no one is asking.
